Haven't been around the last several weeks due to moving. Uncle Sam suggested I move to North Carolina and now here I am. I haven't been able to get a straight answer on rules and regulations for detecting here yet, the local sheriffs department didn't have a clue. If anybody out there knows where I can find some info that would be great. Also, looking for someone in the Cameron/Sanford/ Fayetteville area to go with. Thanks for your time.

From what I understand it's generally ok to detect in city parks (unless otherwise posted) but state and federal parks can get your detector and even car confiscated. Private property is ok when you have permission.

Metal detecting is not a crime. Hunt public areas and get permission for private property, there should be plenty of good stuff waiting to be found.

Hey Matt, I will be back in about 5 weeks. I know where an old school used to be . :coffee2:

Thanks for the info, just want to make sure I'm legit when I make it out of the house. I've been run off public places in the past and I just want to be sure. See ya when you get back bman.
