Looking for a area of a small civil war skirmish today. I am getting close.

Found this bullet and a rimfire casing today out poking around. Found this other thing not sure what it is. From the Civil war era? Any ideas let me know. Thanks

Oh, I've heard some of those yankee troops were kinda' light in the boots. Bet they had to check their makeup before they went out to fight! ;D The little short tubes were sometimes samples of lipstick for the gals to try out. My mom use to bring some home back in the fifties when she went to some of her "girlie" home parties like Stanley, etc. Monty

Knight stalker always careful when I am out. I carry some bullets with me in case those damn Yankees show back up. ;D

Hey DFX....What caliber is it?....get a measurement and if it's close to .52 it could be a Sharp's Carbine.Go to www.civilwaroutpost.com in the bullet listing's....Pretty damn close.....HH!!

Here it is...

Think it would be a Gardner Bullet. It has the insert in the base.

MMMMMMMMMMM, wonder if this yankee from Ohio, could come down your way sometime and
hunt for some our lost bullets??? haha, Are you using your ACE 250 or your Troy to find those bullets?

Sheesh, did you really mean 200 men on each side or 2000 like you posted ? 2000 would be a fairly big fight, not a skirmish. That would be a lot of lead flying, but a dropped bullet is a definate sign you're close. Someone was in a hurry to pull a bullet out of a pouch or stuff it down a barrell and dropped it.
Grib may be right but you might keep in mind a lot of times the soldiers would just use the gunpowder to start a campfire and would pitch the bullet. You might look around and eyeball a elavated hill or ridge. It could be a picket or observation post. I would also reccomend you check near the closest water source and any south facing fields with a slight elevation. Also do not forget to check near the original roads. They may not exist anymore but could have some traces left. These are the areas I recommend you check out. Remember the pickets could be in all directions on elavated ground. This is my formula and I have been blessed enough to find a few camps along with my hunting buddys help of course. Good luck and let us know how you do. Tsgman

Ring finder this stuff was found with the ace.

Thanks for the info. The bullet cam from a hill the confederates were suppose to have retreated to to make another stand.
Was on top of the hill so may have been a picket. I am 100yds from the old road they were using. I think the battle may
have been down the road a little futher as you could see a good ways out in front of you from this hill. Need to catch the guy
home that owns it and see if I can get permission. Have not been lucky enough to find a camp site that has not been hunted yet
but we are working on it.
