Grib may be right but you might keep in mind a lot of times the soldiers would just use the gunpowder to start a campfire and would pitch the bullet. You might look around and eyeball a elavated hill or ridge. It could be a picket or observation post. I would also reccomend you check near the closest water source and any south facing fields with a slight elevation. Also do not forget to check near the original roads. They may not exist anymore but could have some traces left. These are the areas I recommend you check out. Remember the pickets could be in all directions on elavated ground. This is my formula and I have been blessed enough to find a few camps along with my hunting buddys help of course. Good luck and let us know how you do. That would be a lot of lead flying, but a dropped bullet is a definate sign you're close. Someone was in a hurry to pull a bullet out of a pouch or stuff it down a barrell and dropped it.
