Looking for a Civil War historian

I’m am trying to do research on a soldier who may have served with the 2nd Rhode Island in the Civil War. His name was A Peasley or Peaslee. I have struck out on my usual databases and would appreciate any leads. Thank you very much!

I know nothing other than I have something of his that is dated 1862, marked 2nd Rh Is and “A Peasley”. It’s a wooden snuff box with a flag on the top.
