For tot lots? I have a BH Pioneer 505 that actually does wonders in parks and the like.
ANY "land" Tesoro will without a doubt do! Just about anything in a tot lot is going to be very shallow in my oppinion.

Compadre

The Compadre is a lot of bang for the buck and perfect for tot lots.

Relic

As was stated any of the Tesoro's would work in tot lots. You can over gun yourself with to much detector, but it will always have the guts to do more and still be very light weight to be a pleasure to use.

also forgot to say I would want to use it some for relic hunting on my parents ranch.

Thanks

Uh oh...relic hunting is on the menu ? You know what that means....Tejon

Inexpensive ... the Compadre does not cost much and is a great tot lot detector. You could find used Tesoros at very resonable prices. I got my Tejon used for $350 and its probably the best $350 I ever spent on a detector.

The more I use that machine, the more I love it. I am in NJ and have no problem with any soil conditions here, but as you all know, things vary region to region.

I just ordered the small concentric coil for it. Bet that baby will tear up tot lots now....and it's already a killer dry sand machine and with the smaller coil, I can't wait to take it back to the beaches for dry sand hunting
( can't get near the wet sand though but I have other machines for that)

Like others said, most any Tesoro is a great tot lot machine. Some can be overkill for tot lots only, but if you plan on doing relic hunting and broadening your horizons, then I would say spend a little more ( save a little more first !) and go with a manual GB tesoro.

Does it have to be a Tesoro? I have a neat little Fisher SilverUmax that does a bangup job on tot lots. Coin shooting and tot lots is all I use it for. Monty

Thanks for all the input.
Monty I thought the Silver Umax was a Tesoro?? Does Fisher make the same model?? Does detect deep??
You can PM or E-Mail me if you like.

Thanks

Let's face it. Tot lots are "beep dig" areas. Set your machine to reject small iron and dig it all. If it was Tot lots only I would say the Compadre. But since your saying relics too then you'll want to be able to use different coils. I would suggest the Silver uMax. Or any older uMax machine. Used should be found for around $175.00

Re: Looking for a Tesoro for tot lots (bought Golden Umax)

I found a used Golden UMax. Went ahead and bought it. It has enough knobs to keep me busy for awhile. Also bought one of Thomas Terry's books I have been wanting.

Anyone have the Golden Umax any comments would be appreciated!!

I have heard only good stuff about the Golden.
