I have long thought to find the best finds you got to go further and find the best spots. I have a dream of doing so and have plans for the ultimate adventure. The Yukon River has been called the world's longest river. I plan to take an expedition to the Yukon and hunt the sites along the river. I am looking for someone who shares the dream as I do. From Whitehorse to Dawson City there are numerous old settlements, trading posts, ghost towns, mining towns, etc. I want to know if anyone has ever heard of such an idea or does anyone know anything about detecting in northern Canada. Does this dream seem rational? if you look at any pictures of the Yukon river you will always see old abandoned sites which may yeild many valuable finds.

dream seem rational? hmm, well many dreams are simply not rational at all. But you should keep your dreams, while finding a way to satisfy your wonderlust in a some way that may not be so radical.

The grass is always greener on the other side. We hear of pirate's loot and great chests of gold etc.
But can you finance such an expedition and cover your food, gas, etc. for some prolonged amount of time???? I've heard of guys driving 500 miles to dig a few wheaties and some pulltabs. Sometimes real and worthy treasure is right beneath your nose - in spots you've already visited or passed by as unworthy, or never investigated.

If you can go and afford the trip, and most important, can find a trustworthy partner to cover your back - go for it. But be prepared for some real dangers and some people who may desire to relieve you of your equipment and supplies.

Time becomes your enemy when traveling far and wide for possible motherloads. You might find something really valuable. My guess is - most do not.

I would start with day trips or weekend trips within reasonable driving distance. this could cure some wonderlust and perhaps make one realize that traveling somewhere distant does not necessarily make for finding more treasure. HH!
