I was looking the old post of treasurenet.com in 2005 and I found a guy called "JBLACK" that he posted this:

You are 100% correct, in that obtaining a dowsing response as the result of an ideomotor effect can be accomplished by just about any one.

In wikipedia say:

The ideomotor effect is a psychological phenomenon wherein a subject makes motions unconsciously. As in reflexive responses to pain, the body sometimes reacts reflexively to ideas alone without the person consciously deciding to take action. For instance, tears are produced by the body unconsciously in reaction to the emotion of sadness.

Automatic writing, dowsing, facilitated communication, and Ouija boards have also been attributed to the effect of this phenomenon. Mystics have often attributed this motion to paranormal or supernatural force. Many subjects are unconvinced that their actions are originating solely from within themselves
.

My questions to this is:

According with JBLACK and the theory of "ideamotor" every human has the ability to move any object with his or her mind?

Dowsing is a sort of scam?

Main Entry: 1scam
Pronunciation: \ˈskam\
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
Date: 1963
: a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation <an insurance scam>

Dowsing is not a scam since WE are the ones to ask the instruments and engage our minds to find the objects we seek. Dowsing does not "act" upon us, "confront" or attempt to convince us with a plan of action for material gain as would a human.
Hope this helps,
Jon

Thanks for the input but to be honest, i didn't understand what you wrote here. Due I'm a metal detector user only, if you explain in a simple way, maybe I will understand. Apparently in this kind of dowsing science, there are mind, body and material involved in this sort of search for metals.

scam - a fraudulent business scheme
cozenage
swindle, cheat, rig - the act of swindling by some fraudulent scheme; "that book is a fraud"
Verb 1. scam - deprive of by deceit; "He swindled me out of my inheritance"; "She defrauded the customers who trusted her"; "the cashier gypped me when he gave me too little change"
bunco, con, defraud, diddle, gip, goldbrick, gyp, hornswoggle, mulct, nobble, rook, swindle, short-change, victimize
short, short-change - cheat someone by not returning him enough money
cheat, rip off, chisel - deprive somebody of something by deceit; "The con-man beat me out of $50"; "This salesman ripped us off!"; "we were cheated by their clever-sounding scheme"; "They chiseled me out of my money"

You asked if dowsing was a sort of scam. I'm saying it's not. Scams come from humans.
Dowsing is not a human being. Does this help you understand any better?

I know what does means "scam", but what I'm trying to undesrtand why Mr. JBLACK state that dowsing is "ideomotors effect". You said

Dowsing does not "act" upon us, "confront" or attempt to convince us with a plan of action for material gain as would a human.

then how dowsing works? if it isn't ideomotors, then what does makes that those coathanger get cross each other?

I wondered this myself when I started out but did not let "the not knowing how/why it works" keep me from learning and finding out what methods work for me. Watching people make locations via dowsing and then making some myself was much more interesting and enjoyable to me than using my energy and time pondering why and how dowsing works.
We don't know exactly what makes dowsing work, but we know it does. We do know that we need to be part of the procedure to get a dowsing reaction. Similarly, every metal detectorist does not know exactly what makes a metal detector work but knows they have to provide the means to move the unit over the ground.
Every dowser has his/her own beliefs on what they feel makes it work. Some but not all the examples of what people believe makes dowsing work are physics, electromagnetic waves, spritual intervention, ect. or a combination of these.

I watched that video from randy and I don't think the guy with the coat hanger is cheating. whether the dowsing is magical or not my big question is the same:

CAN I TRUST 100% IN ANY DOWSING SYSTEM TO FIND ABSOLUTELY GOLD, CACHES AND SILVER UNDERGROUND?
