We have been looking for a camp. And feel like it will show up soon, but not today.
I know there was one or more in this spot. Here is what I have pulled out today.
I feel we are just on the out side of the camp, but had that thought in the past. lol

Thanks for the look. HH...

nice digs, you'll find the camp

Looks like a home site maybe. Nice relics though. Really like the locks. You are close….

You gotta be close! Keep at it. I know how frustrating that can be. I searched and searched for a site for days and just couldn't locate it. I finally got frustrated and started stomping out of that place like a lil 2 year old child :-) On the way out I decided to check a small field that was quite a distance from where I believed the site to be. Sure enough within 20 minutes I had a colonial shoe buckle, a kg2 and a beautiful 2 cent piece. So don't give up my friend . You will find it and it will be worth all of the time and research, Abe

got2dig,

The padlock featuring the monogram S & Co on the keyhole cover, is one made by Sargent & Co, a hardware manufacturing company incorporated in New Haven CT in 1864. The other padlock appears to carry a D.M. & Co. mark, for Davenport, Mallory & Co., another New Haven manufacturer, dating from 1852 through 1865.

From the assortment of finds spanning the 1850's through late 1800's/Turn-of-the-Century or more (pen cap, aluminum thimble are late), it appears this would be a homesite, rather than campsite.

CC, right you are we are working off a house that was used by the CS army. It was a sister house to the main house that still stands proud today. The Union had shelled the house to run them off. There was two camp sites off this house. One we have dug some nice pieces out of. We have been hunting out to the main camp, but it has to much brush to get to it. If we can work our way in the main camp should only be 300 to 400 yr. back. This farm had a Military School on it, and is still worked as a farm today. So we have lots of stuff there that dates back to the mid. to late 1700s to today.

Nice digs. Fresh water is the key. HH, Q.

Q, there is a creek that runs on this farm so the water it there. It's just to thick to get in to the spot. It's one of them spots you know is there. But you just have look in and hope one day.
Good hunting this year to you guys. Going out now. got2dig HH.....

Sweet old locks and hatchet head. Wishing you all the best in finding that camp.

Best of luck in your endeavors. Look forward to seeing some great CS finds in the near future. :icon_thumright:

Nice digs, can you please tell me what this item is...I found an identical one while diving this summer on a site that gave up several Union buttons and tokens.

Thanks for your time,

The item is a brass back plate along with the two pommels, from a Georgian style furniture drawer. The holes on the one side of each pommel, held the actual drawer pull.

Well it sure looks like you got all the doors unlocked now. Can't be too much longer. ;)

Nice!

Thanks CC hunter, I have found skeleton keys and locks on this site too so a drawer pull makes sense.

Thanks for your knowledge and time.

Still a Darn fine bunch of relics.

Interesting finds and it looks like your halfway to a harmonica :icon_thumright:

Nice finds! Looks like your getting real close! GL. HH!

is the thimble silver?
sure looks like it.

I can straighten those...so can others...would look good after reshaping.

I'll have to look at it, but I think not.
