Dug this at my 1800s house permission over the weekend. I've found lots of horse related items there, buckles, reign guides and even a silver horse ring. This is my first intact horseshoe though. Including the nails! I dont know much about them but I've found them at other locations. one from a CW battlefield. I'd like to know more about them.

Looks like the horse used to drag his feet or put the front of his hoof down first while he walked, that's why the front is worn more than the rest. Also why your shoe was probably pulled off and replaced with a new one.

That's quite the analysis, do you have experience in this field?

The toe of the shoe is always .. well 99.9% of the time ... the first to go, which is why so many halves are found.

I also noticed this shoe is much smaller than others i've found so i'd assume the horse was young. The one i dug at the Confederate battlefield was also a little rounder than this one.

Sort of, my family has always had horses, and I remember my father always had to replace the shoes on his horse because the rear outside edge of the rear right shoe always wore down first because of the way the horse put his foot down.
