Looking for old fort info

I live where there was a fort. Supposedly benjamin Franklin surveyed the area to put a fort in around the 1750s and my neighbor lives in the building that was erected for the fort itself. I don't know where to look or even what the fort was called. All I know is it is in palo alto pa.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can come up with any more information for me since I'm not too good with having patience to search the interwebs

The closest I could find is Fort Lebanon over near Auburn... Pennsylvania Forts: page 4

Thanks Todd. I'm gonna try to get some more info from my neighbor. I do know both of our houses were built in the 1700s. His was in the 1750s. And he did research and found it was a fort. But I will try to ind more info

It shows Fort William a.k.a Fort Lebanon just below the "K" in "Berks", but then nothing north westward until Fort Augusta around current day Sunbury. Keep in mind that at the time this was in Berks County which stretched all the way out to the Susquehanna[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif].[/FONT]

Soop I don't know if u ever detected in pally but I recently found a couple building foundations that seemed interesting. But I dont have a good metal detector for that sort of hunting

Anyway other then Lebanon outside Auburn

I have nothing on forts in Palo alto.

Not saying it couldn't have slipped through the cracks,
but am thinking this story is just a rumor.

It may have been a Block house used in times of danger, But if actually Built on Frankins orders
it would be well known.

[ Forgive My memory, There is a story of a supposed saw mill in the area
of the Pottsville Hospital, thast supplied wood for ships during the Revolution, & possibly a Block house in the area, being there was supposedly Indian attacks
there also ] Munsell's 1881 History may have the details



but I'm not aware of Mauch Chunk being considered a part of Paley


there were only 3 forts known, that can be considered in Schuylkill county

I got new info. Where the house is located, is schuylkill county now. But when it was built, it was in berks county. Later they changed the county lines putting it in schuylkill county
