Drew, I live in Jacksonville for the last 14 years. I've been metal detecting the local beaches from Mayport Naval Station (retired USN) to Jax Beach. There are several detectorists that I see during summer months. The low tide area can reward you with good finds and trash. Firework sparklers, old nails from the previous fishing pier are common. I am waiting for this spring break period since many college student's come here and lose their jewerly. Good luck
