Need someone with a 18 to 20 foot bow-rider or bass boat .To help me investigate two locations on S.M.L. This will probably take most of one day.
1st site, is a stream that feeds into S.M.L. that looks promising for gold..... Plan on Taking samples for panning.
2nd site,is the remains of a old field stone structure.Guessing civil war era.... Plan on Metal detecting this site.
If anyone is interested let me know.Planning on doing this sometime this spring. Thanks Roger

HH! Good Luck! Have FUN! Looks like Quartz or Feldspar with pieces of Gold or Mica... FELDSPAR Mining WAS in Old Moneta area...

Looks like it may be worth some hunting time and swing a detector. Never know what might turn up there.

Franklin County, Va. side going towards Roanoke, Va. MAY be in the "GOLD belt"...

Thread update.
Bought a boat 2 mos. ago anyone interested in Metal Detecting this old site, let me know. Probably hitting it w/in a Month or two. All you will need is your M.D. and boots.Site is impossible to see from the lake. And a full days walk(one way) by land.Site is the remains of a old stone structure 'Pre cement joint days' dunno 17-18 Hundreds.
See structure Pix. in #6 post -this thread-
