Looks like Canada is scrapping the penny

According to the government, the penny will retain its value indefinitely, but it is going to take quite some time before the pennies are completely out of circulation. So I wonder will the pennies in use now be sent back to the Canadian Mint?

Are we in Canada for the duration?

I have a question: Are Canadian pennies still solid copper, or are they a zinc core with a very thin layer of copper, like US pennies?

No they are zinc now.

come to think of it, I got 14 canadian cents in my last penny box... :o

These news are no good for CRHers in Canada. However there is still some time to search penny boxes in advance and pull out last circulating pieces of the KG V, KG VI, Wheats, and possibly IHs.
