Detector(s) used
Bounty Hunter Tracker IV, Garret Ace 250
While I was packing up my detector to go home, I happend to loose that black coil nut that screws onto the screw to help the coil stay in place. I tried using a steel nut, but it made my detector give false readings every time I swung it. Does anyone know where I can buy another nut, or if I can buy one at a hardware store?

Some Ace Hardware stores have nylon connectors,but if you just call Garrett,they'll send you replacement connectors and they are usually free and you have them in just a couple of days.

Don't know the size of yours, but check with Ace Hardware, they have several different sizes it it's an emergency. If not go to Garrettm and order couple extras.................I have a tool box of metal detecting supplies I travel with, in it are several nylon coil bolts among many other items........

I did the same thing, I emailed Garrett and they sent me a new one FREE.

Dear Coins4cheese;
Most well stocked hardware stores carry a good selection of nylon hardware for use inside of toilet tanks. Just take whatever size and length nylon nuts & bolts that are on your detector and get spares of each. This way you won't be in danger of cutting a detecting trip short because of a lost bolt and/or wing nut.

Dear Coins4Cheese;
I've also lost a coil wingnut before and what I did was to drill an extra hole in my upper shaft and mounted a spare bolt & wingnut there so I will always have an extra one with me. I also placed a pair of spare coil mount rubber gaskets with them so I won't be without one if I happen to lose one in the field.

Any well equipped hardware store will have different sizes of nylon bolts, nuts and flats. They ALSO carry various sizes of rubber washers. I know Home Depot has this stuff and more.
