My coinshooting buddy, Ed, and I were hunting some huge, old recreation fields yesterday. We noticed that a guy in a bulldozer was scraping off the far end of the fields. Now these fields are very old and we both said we got to get in there when the guy leaves. Along about 2 o'clock he left, so we got right in there and started cleaning up.
The coins were popping up, especially on one side of the field, which had been the infield of an old softball field. But the grounds predated softball. I found 3 old large cents, 4 indian heads, 15 silver coins, 2 buffalo nickels, several wheaties and a sterling silver cuff link. Also found several other relics, such as buttons and buckles.
The best find was this 1877-cc Seated Liberty Quarter:

Next is 3 nice Barber Quarters:

Then there were 3 Barber Dimes:

Next is 4 Indian Head Cents, including a nice 1866:

Next is the contents of an old pocket spill, which were all in the same hole:

Also found 3 Rosies and another merc:
And a sterling silver cuff link:
The three large cents are soaking in olive oil in the hopes that some details on the coins will show up. They are typical Large Cents found in Pennsylvania. By that I mean that they are almost totally fried by the soil here. I may post them if any detail comes out.
Thanks for looking.
