Even though I hate seeing old coins like that defaced, those are pretty cool looking! Especially the U.S. dime.....nice workmanship. It's interesting that both look to have had something similar soldered to one side as an attaching point.

I'd say they eroded years ago.
 

I have yet to find one. Love them for what they are and not for what they once were. Before they were simply a coin. They now have a sentimental story and value. I hope to find one someday.

Something that can be tied to some person long ago when times were hard,but simple,nowadays times are hard and not so simple.
 

Got one.... but had to buy it. forget what I paid... still need to get me a hobo
 

Here's mine, my most favorite find, my first gold, found 2 years ago in North Central PA - $2.50 gold piece.

I love all of those.. Each Very special..

Found this one at coin beach in Delaware after Sandy, Not real clean and detailed but at one time was special to someone on the Faithful Stewart

Some one at one time told me what the coin was, think it was in the 1760 ERA and it had a thin layer of brass or gold on the side of the letter "K"

Have about a dozen...most are holed...and most are dimes.
