Lovin' California

103 degrees, nice breeze blowin' but the wind seems hotter than the ambient temperature, biting flies, the constant smell of a cows a$$, bad food, long hours...........AND forcasted temp on Thursday & Friday is 107-108. My ears are so sunburned they feel like 2 pieces of crispy bacon. Did I mention the black widow infestation or the damn killdeer that constantly scream & divebomb me? I just love this God forsaken place they call California.........can I go home now?

Sounds like your having fun. My advise to you is if those are deer flies you better make friends with them fast, they are relentless. Weather here is in the high 80's to low 90's, but the humidity is a killer. It feels like you are wrapped in a hot wet towel all day. I'm glad to see you can mix business with a little pleasure. I was in LA just once for a week of agent meetings and barely saw the outside of the hotel. We met from breakfast right through dinner into the early evening hours, so we just had time for drinks.. I was there for the Santa Ana winds, so I really didn't care for LA at all.

I know Swede, cant wait to get home. We had a bad day today, got all our distribution pumps running & fiigured out 3 of the lines from the incubator were plugged up. Tried everything & finally filled the incubators to the brim (2500 gal) to create head pressure then disconected the line at the pump & inserted a garden hose.........kept shoving it in & breaking up solid matter until it came clear. You might be surprised how much head pressure is created by 2500 gal of what I will call "liquid" & how powerful the stream is. It ripped the hose right outa my hand & pretty much soaked my butt, I knew it could get messy but I wasnt expecting that at all. 1 line down, 2 to go. Me & Russ were not happy & not dry but I believe the flys enjoyed it because we felt (and probably smelled to them) like pieces of meat.........they tore us up! Got er goin, got er all cleaned up before tomorrows 11am deadline, we'll go out early tomorrow & finish a few minor details. Big BBQ tomorrow night at the CEOs brothers place (called "The Ranch" ) & head home hung over on Thursday morning or when i finally get Russ up & moving. I'll make him drive, climb in the back of the Yukon & sleep most of the way home!

A very few of my folks went out there during the dust bowl and stayed. May I please quote, as I ain't old, I'm just out of date. I got one last glance of a palamino, when I drove out west to see the purple sage. Then as the canyons burned, and the mountains crumbled, the last cowboy band left the stage. Leave your expectations at the gate , cause they can pack you up and send you home in a crate. But someday maybe I'll go there.
