Detector(s) used
Minelab Equinox 700 (stock and 6" coil), Pro-find 35 PP, Makro PP, and a little luck.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Went out this past weekend with a friend of mine that was in from Arizona. I had just received my 6" coil last Friday (3/22) and was very anxious to take it out for a spin. All I can say is WOW!!!! If you have an Equinox, you need this coil. It cuts through trash like a laser.

Is the 6 inch coil any lighter than the stock coil? My wrist is trying to give me problems.

It is feather lite. I sent you a PM last night about a 6"coil for sale on Treasure Depot . It may be sold by now though. The 6" is awesome. I can't wait to go back over the other tot-lots I have hunted in the past with this coil.

Can't wait until I can afford one

I pretty much keep my 6 x 8 Detech coil on my E-TRAC all the time. When you downsize to a 6" or smaller coil, it will force you to slow down and not think about covering acres of land. It will help you concentrate on a specific area and cover it very well.

I looked for that coil at that site but didn't see it. I tried Bart's yesterday but he said back ordered but no problem. awesome finds, happy happy

Wow, the ad must have been pulled by an administrator, it was there last night. $135 shipped. No sign of it now. Sorry about that.

I purchased one after talking with a few friends on here. Will leave it on mostly myself if I dont loose too much depth from the stock coil.

I just ordered one today. I have a trashy abandoned home site I’ve found some wheats and 1 silver in. Had to move the 11” coil an inch at a time or get drowned out by iron or garbage. Hope this helps!

I failed to mention that I had forgotten my pinpointer the day my friend and I hunted the tot-lot where the jewelry was found. The 6" coil made it really easy to zero in on the target and allowed me to dig a very tight plug to retrieve the target. I had a Teknetics T2 SE LTD with the 5" coil a couple seasons ago and had really good success with that setup but the Equinox's multi-frequency coupled with this 6" coil is so much better. I can't wait to get back out again with it.

ZR2guy, I agree! I bought the 6" coil right after I got the 800. When I received it I said to myself "this thing is too small to do any harm". I bought the 15" coil because of the huge beaches I'm detecting hear in Maine thinking I could cover more ground. Wrong!!! 15" coil no, stock coil good, 6" coil great! I find that I'm not using the 15" at all and use the stock coil every now and then. The 6" stays on my Nox 90% of the time. I'm shocked by how much I like it. It does force one to slow down and I actually enjoy detecting more because I don't feel like I have to cover so much ground. Tons of targets where I am and I'm able to really comb through everything with the 6". I'm sold!!!

I've only been out once with my 6 inch coil, but no joke, I found an IHP that was surrounded by garbage in the first 30 seconds of the hunt! This area has been worked by people who own the XP Deus, AT Pro, Equinox, E-Trac, and Ace 250, yet every machine / coil size missed this coin with the exception of the 6 inch Equinox coil.

mine should be ordered now and I have a couple of places just waiting for it. At my age with my health problems, slow ain't a problem. I believe that a lot of people hunt way too quickly and skip a lot of ground. very few actually do a true grid and as Smokey says, a miss is as good as a mile.

Personally, I set my recovery speed on the Equinox 600 at "2". I have owned a few Minelab Xterras in the past and had good success with them by swinging slow and methodical. I do the same with the Equinox and have had excellent results; now even better with this amazing 6" coil. You won't believe how light it is and it makes pinpointing a breeze. Less recovery time = more hunting time.:icon_thumright:

I usually hunt in Park 2 for where I am. in multi frq as is but I will try the Recovery speed at 2. I plan to use both coils but there is a time and place for both. can't wait to get it (sound familiar?) waded thru the pull tab mine field earlier today, should be a great test site. thanks for the info. Jerry
