I recently was out hunting with my Deleon. I was finding plenty of clad. Only problem was the depth was indicating 7 and 8 inches when in fact I was digging the coins at 3 to 4 inches. I had never experienced this sence I got this detector...the depth has been extremly accurate until that day. I checked the battery indicator and still had half of the bars. I went ahead and changed the batterys and altho I didnt return to the same place to hunt the problem seemed solved. So am I correct in assuming it was low batts? Or could it have been minerals or something where I was hunting? BTW I LOVE this machine!!!!!!

I've never really had that problem but when I turn the DeLeon on and it only beeps 3 times or so and the battery bars are at 50% or so, I go ahead and change out batteries.

When in doubt, change the batteries is a good thing to do. A lot of other detectors are this way too and guys blame the brand or detector. Lithium batts, though longer lasting don't work well in a lot of detectors because of the voltage diff.

shanegalang,

Glad your liking the DeLeon. Thanks again for buying from me. I just got back from Cape Cod where I tested the DeLeon on the salt water beaches. It worked great up to about where the salt water was less than 10" under the sand, then it started to false some. I found that slowing my sweep speed made it a lot smoother.
Everyone has given you good advise on your question. It is also possible that the ground mineralization did spike in that particular spot you were hunting and that caused the depth to read incorrectly. An easy way to tell would be to try the detector where you hunted and the depth was correct. What coil were you using? Joe
