Went down to Edisto for a little beach fun with the wife and kids this past weekend. Managed to get in a few hunts and boy am I glad I did. My first find was a bucket lister that just about made me crap my pants. 1835 Charleston Servant Tag.

The next 2 finds are also nice and were about 5 feet apart.

Went a while with normal trash and managed to scratch out some lead. The round ball with a hole through it is the 3rd one I've found at this site. The other round ball appears to have teeth marks or has been carved with a knife. The miniball seems to have been carved.

Next I have no idea but was thinking maybe a sight for cannon?

Thanks looking and HH!

Wow! I really like the old servant tag. Nice saves. Congrats

I dug about a 6ft pit trying to find the top part. That's where it would have had "Charleston". All that's left of that is "on". It's not perfect but was on my list of please lord let me find one.

Well at least you got the bigger piece.

That's a great piece of servant tag & a rare find, very nice buttons & nice lead, congratulations on the saves

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Great work Highstrung! Keep at it! Best wishes!

That tag is an awesome find! Congrats!

Great finds. Charleston seems to be a hot place to hunt.

Nice finds. That servant tag is a rare find for sure.
the round ball with a hole might be a pulled bullet, if the hole went all the way through I would say a net weight, but it doesn’t appear to go all the way through.

Sweet hunt, the tag is awesome!! And I believe that is a cannon sight, someone will come along and chime in to confirm. Great job!!

Killer Servant Tag...I vote Banner! :notworthy:

Excellent finds! I dont know how tags were worn but maybe that broke off and the rest stayed on the chain and person. Sounds like you did a thorough search.

Congrats on some amazing recoveries!

It's my understanding they were issued when a slave was loaned out to another plantation. They were only good for one year. My guess would be once they went out of date they were simply discarded as trash.

What an extraordinarily rare find, and an excellent set of relics all around. Congrats to ya mate! :skullflag: :occasion14:
