Low tide mud recoveries....giddyap!

Hi,

Rain in the forecast , so I attempted ( successfully) to stay ahead of the elements.

It was great to be out there again; GT is working fine again.

Found lots of clads , a large ( #5 wt.) sinker, 2 "Wheaties", and an interesting item of western motif which may be a belt buckle ..not sure; it is as heavy as lead.

I believe it is a horse tack rosette, they often have one loop on the back and I easily see where yours had a single loop on it.

Do you have any suggestions as to how to clean this rosette to make it look more presentable , or should I just leave it as is for vintage effect?

I wouldn't use more than soapy water and a toothbrush. The brass on these is often quite thin with the lead backing providing strength. Any heavy duty brass cleaners may damage what you have left. It is a cool piece and maybe left in relic condition is a better option than trying to clean it up too much.
