I kow this is going to sound really dumb but how can a metal detector pick up arrow heads. are they not made of rock? Now that I mention it when i am metal detecting I have found rocks in the holes i dig why is this?

The only dumb question is the one not asked.All of these points were eyeballed while metal detecting.My wife has dug two while digging a metal target..pure luck ....B.H.
i have no clue it is for a small loaf of bread. i found it detecting a soccer field in dayton ohio. it has the name henery rice maker on it. i believe 1850, i have no clue.
Nice points BH. You have some very old ones. Here in the Upstate we find them on hills near creeks and rivers. A site was discovered on the SC/Ga line that could be the oldest known in the US. Tony
Those are sweet. We used to find tons of arrowheads in Detroit when I was a kid. We used to dig deep holes so we could build an underground clubhouse(haha) and ran across them all the time.
South Carolina is a great place to detect. Tons of history there. Congrats!
I love finding artifacts that another human made hundreds to thousands of years ago. They were so skilled to make it in this world, especially here in Iowa come about February. I love that little round thing in the top right corner. It looks like a tiny one of those things they mashed grain on. Sorry can't remember what they're called but my father-in-law uses a huge one as his doorstop. Thanks for showing us!
