I recently started hunting a new site. An old school that is FULL of targets. I find lots and lots of nails,bottles and old brick pieces. Most targets are 8 plus inches deep. Not an exaggeration. Hard thick clay. I decided to start in one area and dig everything. Glad I did! 4 hours and covered very little. An older fella stopped and told me that before they built the school it was a dump site. Makes sense now. I have my work cut out for me but am excited.the rings were not too deep but the others whew!

I know what you're saying about the clay. When it is dry it's tough digging but you found some nice stuff. Congrats

Caution should be applied when digging an old dump.
Use of a shovel has damaged many an old bottle. Nice finds and good luck on your future hunts.
