Hit a local beach for an hour today during lunch. First target ring. third target silver ring (with tiny real diamonds -tested) later another junk ring, junk earring and junk bracelet. Only $0.40 in clad and usual bobby pins and junk but always good to pull jewelry.

odd thing on the first ring is it still has the tag attached when it was bought. It has size on one side then it says 12k and either $125 or $25. 10k acid test was inconclusive. material came off plate but did not dissolve completely. Ring has a tarnish but low karat can tarnish easy. I am guessing not gold but odd to have the label say 12k. Any opinions out there on what it could be. This was first time I have dug a target with a tag still attached. Guess the person bought it at a local street fair and forgot they had it in their pocket when they went for a swim. It was 4-6". fun hour either way. Hope to get back down during lunch later in the week

That's very interesting...never know what you will find.

yea bummer, looks pretty coppery from here, but if it was plated that tag woulda came off way before the plating, thatsa strange one for sure. No halmark usually means plated also.

MT, congrats on the silver ring find, and on the ? 12 K. Maybe file the ring on a part of the band deeper, and check it again although it does look like copper to me.:dontknow:
