Todays lunch time finds a button,which makes 18 from this site,a upholsterery tack ,makes 10,a buckle makes 6,only this oneis small to the others. 7/8x5/8" anyone know?

I had to look twice at that thing, I really thought it was a pulltab of some kind when I first looked at it. It looks like a buckle off of a kids shoe.

Jr, you consistently find neat stuff on your lunch breaks! Pretty soon you'll be skinny as a rail with a treasure chest filled with cool finds. That buckle for instance; it's got the cross bar and the little protrusion on the inside lip, and it's cast. According to Ross Whitehead, that style can date back to 1700, even earlier (although odds are it was in use a little more recently). Neat finds!

we call them a Double loop Asymmetrical Buckle over here :)

Thanks SS. Yes, whitehead dates the manufacture between 1575 to 1700. As I mentioned, it was probably in use later. Here is Whitehead's example:

that's what i thought at first,only i have not seen any pull tabs or alumn. foil at this site,been working it for over a year.
