For a quick lunchtime hunt, I hit my old standby farm down the road from work today.
Hot and humid, but at least overcast. My ol' Tesoro was really acting up, in a good way though. It was picking up items in places I've searched numerous times. Mainly a lot of junk rusty iron (nails & plow tips), but some keepers too.
My finds were:
*A large piece of a crock or jug. (In the same hole as a nail)

*A rusty buckle.

*A triangular shaped decorative buckle (?).
Any ideas on this one? There is a moveable pin on the back side.

*A very unique small silver spoon with what looks like a small lion head on the front, and a monkey head on the back. At least I think it's a lion and monkey. Some folks at work thought it was a devil, not a monkey. ;D
It is stamped "800" on the inside cupped portion of the spoon.
I'm pretty sure most of the handle is missing.
I thought it looked handmade, but the "800" stamp threw me off.
Some folks I showed it to said it may be a SNUFF or medicine spoon?
It looks to be handmade and very old to me.
Any ideas on this piece?

No silver coins, just a silver spoon.
Gypsy- This looks like a piece you would like. ;)

Have a great week. Ridley and I will be continuing our MDing adventures up in the NC mountains on Saturday. It's a long way to go for coins, but it's a lot cooler up there. ;)

Coinman,
Thanks a lot!!! I saw The Exorcist as a small kid back in the early 70's and it STILL scares the pea soup out of me. :P :'( :'(
I remember thinking my bed was floating when I went to sleep that night, only to wake up and realize I WAS floating. In my own pee that is. ;D

man,, that is an awesome piece !!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

The "800" mark was used during the mid 1800's by German and other European silversmiths. It looks like a tea caddy spoon.

The devil and lion motif are a mystery.

That's one "hell" of a fantastic spoon!

It definitely need more rasearch!

Congratulations!

Good job, bud-buddy-budster! You made the Tesora engineers proud!

Hell, you made Kirkie Pooh proud! :'( :D

At first I thought it may have been Lindsay Lohan's coke spoon, but it isn't worn enough. :o :o

Really Nice old finds !!!!!!!!! and that spoon looks to be very old, I've only found 1 sterling spoon.

Pretty cool finds. I like that spoon, it's different.

Looks like you have picked over that spot pretty good. Still nice to find a silver spoon. Was it deep? Usually those silver spoons ring out load and clear.
