I've been pretty busy lately, out of town, and haven't been on much. I must say, "I miss you guys & gals." ;D :-*
I'll have to catch up on all the recent finds soon.
It finally cooled down here a bit in NC, so I ventured into the woods a bit after work today. These are the woods that are directly behind the new road going in where we found all the bullets, knapsack pieces, and belt keepers a few weeks back.
My first find at the edge of the woods was a 1902 IH. I wasn't sure what year it was until I got it home and cleaned it up a bit. I was hoping for one into the 1800's, but oh well. :-\
After that was a few 3-ringers and other asst'd lead bullets that I have no clue on. :icon_scratch:

I found the square hem weight, large lead piece (looks like part of a spoon bowl), and other curved piece in the yard of an old house in Indiana last week. Nothing exciting, but I've never found or seen a square hem weight. I usually find round ones. This one has an "E" stamped into it.

Not much, but it was a joy to get out and not roast my b-tt off. :tongue3:
Thanks for looking,
MM

WAAAHOOOO, the Doug Dude is back from out of town and back in town...Tnet City, America!!!! :headbang: It is good to hear that you got back safely and all of the Dougster pieces are still together!! :icon_salut:

That 1902 Injun is in pretty good shape, my buddy! You have a great nose for sniffing out the goodies! :notworthy:

Here's to excavating more goodies at your super good sites, my good buddy from NC! :occasion14:

MM - nice digs today bud! Thank God it has cooled down - nice to NOT have sweat dripping into your eyes now ain't it !

Question for ya' - with the three-ringers that you find - how can you tell if they have been fired? Do they look like any modern day round after firing or do they "hold their shape"? I'd like to knoe what to look for just in case I come across a few (wishful thinking)... :D

I am no CW bullet pro like some folks on TN, but I'm pretty sure the ones I find mostly are just drops. I've seen fired ones on TN and they did NOT hold their shape. Hopefully Civil, Sentinel, Buckles, or someone else can post a picture of a fired one.

P.S. Great job on the ring the other day!

Thanks Kyle.
I'm really looking forward to hitting the woods more soon. I'm pretty sure I'm onto a good CW relic spot now.
Still need that elusive LC & 1800's silver this year too. ;D
Take care Buddy.

Hello, Doug. It's good to have you back online!! I'm hoping Nat will get back online soon too. I miss his posts.

I think you'll be able to do more woods hunting now that the weather/humidity has let up in your area. I'd love to see another video too. My buddy, Jon(goldenapples), is working 7 days a week, and hasn't been able to hunt with me in months. I've still been making some great finds.

Congrats on your goodies. It's always good to get any Indian Head. I'd take one of those over a rosie in my areas I hunt any day!!
Looking forward to more wooded area finds.

Take care,
Dan

Doug......Definetley need to catch up on everyone's find's,hope you're still hammering the same spot, too good to allow any kinda slack in a sweet spot like that.Rifling on the round (if you can see it) is the give-away.....CW Baby, keep em' coming......

Good to hear from you MM! That lead piece reminds me of a palm guard for sewing. HH, Mike

It's really nice here in North Cakalaky when the temp and humidity start to drop a little? I didn't have time to hunt yesterday any, but it would have been a perfect day. It's supposed to rain here in Charlotte most of the day today, bummer. You are finding some great stuff, keep up the good work!!!

HH,
Ramapirate

Missed you too, MM!!! Great that you are back and finding all those goodies!

Super finds!!! Nana

Looks good Doug. I haven't found an IH in a while. Your coin has an overall pleasant appearance. :) Bullets look good. Seems like you have an endless supply of them.

Busy keeping an eye on those wild teenagers of yours? ;D

Your not happy with a 1902 IH? I'd be thrilled

RH,
Yeah, I'm always happy to find an IH. I was just hoping it would date into the CW era along with the other relics I'm finding in that area.

Oh yeah, I'm just getting started in that area of the woods. I came home with three ticks on me today from lunch! :o Can't wait until those suckers (no pun intended) are long gone.
Have a great w/end,
