Magnificent pipe!! *MUST SEE*

I actually found this several months ago. Yes i do realize this is in the "todays finds" section but i needed to put this in a forum where people go more often and would have more chance of identifying it.

This pipe was found in a Second Seminole War army privy in my woods and dates pre-1842 (before all the soldier pulled out of The area. Can anyone identify its maker/date/country where it was made? The mark appears to be a S encased in maybe a shield with a crown above it.

I think we can narrow this to a mid-19th C German maker. (they often have makers marks on the start of the stem, rather than the side of the bowl, or heel.)

You could very well be right that it was made in Germany but you have to keep in mind that this was found in a Seminole War privy so it has to predate 1842. I'll start looking into German pipes. Thx for all your help!

Thats fine, these German types did start earlier than 1842 & I read they were trade pipes.
