Magnitude 8.9 Earthquake/tsunami in Japan.. and now Hawaii bracing for tsunami

Switch over to your news The strongest recorded earthquake in Japan's history they say. From the pictures, the tsunami appears to have been very severe and the entire Pacific coast of EVERY country is under a tsunami warning.

We had a major one in the early 1800's, centered in Southern Missouri if I remember reading it correctly, it caused the Mississippi River to run backwards (Flowed North) for 3 days......

I saw that the one in Hawaii was very minor compared to what has happened in Japan. I've been trying to keep an eye on it today, its horrific

i'm from mid-missouri too and to think about what could happen there is scary stuff

The one in Missouri is the New Madrid Fault , and not only did the river run backwards the land had liquid-faction and the soil became like water . And the quake rang the church bells in Boston Mass .
About a week before the quake the ground became so hot that they could hardly walk on it.
And the USGS has stated that the fault is on a 200 or so year cycle and it is due to slip again.
Realfoot lake in I think Ky was formed by the quake as the river changed course by a few miles .

It will be a real house shaker when it goes ! And they say that the last one was a 9.5 on the scale !
St Louis, Memphis , Chicago all those city's will have major damage as it is said. There is a write up about this quake and what they think will happen when it happens again on one of their sites .

I have friends in Kobe , Japan . Kobe was hammered by a killer quake back in 1995 ...10 billion $ in destruction . Friends lost their home but not their lives . Horrible stuff to watch In Guam, the waves broke two U.S. Navy submarines from their moorings, but tug boats corralled the subs and brought them back to their pier. No damage was reported to Navy ships in Hawaii
