Detector(s) used
Garrett ACE 300
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Hi All,

New member to the site but I've been reading a lot of the forums over the last few days.
Just got my first metal detector, a Garrett ACE 300, and have been out hunting for only a few hours so far.
I work over 50 hours a week and have two small kids so hunting time is hard to come by!

I live in the Maine woods on a 50 acre property that has been worked as a farm since the late 1700's.
I really got the detector to search around the land at first, but plan on bringing it with me whenever I have to travel on business.
(Going to Boston for a week in June - going to hunt those beaches!)

So even though I've only been able to go out for a few hours I've already had a nice find:

Civil War Button.webp

I dug it close to where the old farm house stood on the property. It's a Civil War button of some sort.
It makes since being here as one of my wife's great, great, (great?) uncles was in the civil war and we have a few of his pictures from those times. (One of him in uniform, which is super cool.)

I cleaned it up a bit for the pic on the right.

Either way, I'm hooked on this hobby!

Welcome DW...:hello:

Nice button! Nothing like that out here in the Pacific NW, but I
have found a few odd military buttons in the past.

So much history in that part of the US...have you checked for any
old maps that show your property?

Welcome to the Site from Texas

We have a bunch of old photos, locations of dump sites and were actually here when the old barn and house were torn down (Helped with both). Already have a slew of relics, but its the ones that may be buried that has got me excited!

The property has been in my wifes family forever and we only now are living there.

Welcome to TreasureNet DeepWoods. Nice finds! Sounds like you’ve got an awesome place to hunt. Good luck!

Welcome to Tnet from Mississippi

Welcome from "southern" New England ….Connecticut. I think you'll like the Ace 300, I have an Ace 400 as a backup to my AT Pro and I like it a lot.

Nice finds and welcome from SC!

I am loving it so far. I have a generic detector from the 90's that I have been using (sparingly). To go from that to this is a whole new world.

Welcome from Northern Virginia :skullflag: Very nice button, congrats!

Nice find, congrats! :occasion14:
