On my vacation in maine I hunted my parents property with my xl pro. Some old foundations located near the ocean in Elsworth gave up few artifacts. The large copper coin is not indentifiable but obviously old.The spoon was found near a separate foundation and was undamaged but aged from minerals in the soil. The 1894 s quarter came from the maine maritime academy in castine near construction.Any information on this spoon would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck hunting.

I think you have a salt spoon. Its size and shape are correct.
They were normally between two and three inches in length.
I have heard them incorrectly called snuff spoons, but to my knowledge there is no such animal.

Salt Spoon. :)

Individual little dishes - usually crystal glass - were placed at each place setting with salt in them. They needed cute little spoons just like this placed along side of them. :)

Great find.
