A little bit of float gold found with the Gold Racer using the 5" round coil.

Longest piece is about 3/4" long to give a reference on the size.

It's not something I could have not found with a Gold Bug 2 or Pro.

Where I like the Gold Racer is the ability to hunt nuggets AND relic/coin hunt.
It is also nice to be able to glance at the Target ID and see if you have a hot rock or not.
Also being able to hunt the trashy areas easier.

wouldn't find with gold bug because of depth?

I didn't word that very well. I could have easily found this gold with the GB2 and GB Pro.

There was one signal that I easily heard (with the Gold Racer) in ALL METAL mode as well as DISC 2 mode. It registered a strong 40 on the target ID #.
A GB 2 was swung over the signal in ALL METAL mode (with the small elliptical coil) and it barely picked it up..in fact it sounded like mineralization (making me think maybe it was not ground balanced correctly). However it did sound off strongly in Iron ID mode. The GB2 does that sometimes on small deeper gold...i.e. picks it up better in Iron ID mode.
The target ended up being a boot tack at 3".

Both detectors were in audio boost mode because we were getting small pieces.

So I don't know...next time out I will compare the two again on some small signals. Either way -if there is a depth advantage...it's not much.

Yep....It's one sweet looking specimen. Hope he's not a crusher!

No, I usually don't crush unless no gold is visible or the signal is very weak.

That particular piece was very ugly when I found it, but the signal was strong so I knew there was some better gold inside.
I dissolved it for a couple days and luckily it was all connected.

Little on the small side, but still big enough to appreciate without a magnifying glass.
I hang on to that type of stuff to enjoy and potentially sell if a situation comes up and I need some cash.

Pretty looking crumbs.

Good job! Looks like a nice piece of gold. Hope you find more. Good luck
