So I just bought the RC13E coil for my Racer 2. I didn't get the pro package but always wanted this coil for trashy areas and to use close in around fences. I have heard very little about this little coil. It seems to get good depth on my air tests, and the few times I've taken it out it seems to do well. Does anyone use this coil on a regular basis? What are your thoughts on it? With the AT Pro people put the 8x5 on and never look back. I have yet to hear folks doing this with the Makro Racer 5" coil as i'm sure part of the reasoning is it doesn't cover much ground. Plus the standard coil is fantastic for almost everything. Gee, I think i answered my own question. I guess i want to hear what everyone else thinks about it. Thanks.

I have both the 5" and the 4.5 x 5.2 OOR coil and also the CORS Shrew coil (4x6"). I prefer the OOR to the 5" round coil but once I used the Shrew I haven't used the OOR or the 5" Makro coils since. The Shrew gives me the separation I'm looking for in the trashy areas but also affords more ground coverage with each swing. All three are good coils with depth that is greater than would be expected for their size. I always have a small coil mounted on either my Racer 2 or Impact.

I've been using the 5.5x10 a lot, and recently Purchased a NEL 5" Sharp. I'm really enjoying it, works great in the really trashy areas. Doesn't seem to loose much depth. Makes the machine feel like a Feather too. I've never used the OOR.. And yes, I'm one of those that put the 5x8 coil on my AT Pro, and never looked back..

I use the RC13 and it is similar at 5" x 4.5".
I've picked out some nice targets (1832 large cent, 1865 2 cent, 1778 half real for example) from an unbelievably trashy back yard at an 1860's home site that I never saw with the stock coil.

It's also much better when the EMI is high.
On July 5 I was detecting a different old home site that has an electric dog fence. It was impossible to get my Racer 2 within 4-5 feet of it using the stock or 15" coils. Regardless of settings. The EMI was the worst I've ever seen.

I put on the little OOR coil, dropped the gain to 55, upped the id filter to 12, and did a frequency shift up to 4.
I could then get within inches of the dog fence with only slight sparkiness.
I got an 1844 largie and an 1881 silver Canadian quarter along the border.

I love that little coil and it's supposed to be almost identical to the RC13E.

Look at the little Shrew coil too. I heard it separates as well, but gets deeper.

Thanks for all the information. I too have been using the RC13E to get closer to fences, and i really like the depth it gets. It's just really small so it doesn't cover much ground, but you wouldn't want that anyway if you plan on searching in really trashy sites I guess. I've really cleaned out the local ball park and it's adjoining fields, now i guess it's time to go over the bleachers area and find the overlooked stuff with this small coil.
