Marble Stopper? Pat July 4 1905

Found what looks to be a marble stopper. On the top is says PAT July 4 1905. Wondering if anyone had any info on it?

My guess is part of ainsulator used in vintage knob and tube wiring:

My guess is an electrical socket protector

I knew someone would find it with that patent date. I also knew that it wasn't a bottle stopper but rather electric related because it is made from the same insulating ceramic used in knob and tube wiring.
