Re: March 6-8 Hunt

Very nice hunt :notworthy: Looks like you found a good spot with lots of old west history

Re: March 6-8 Hunt

Super finds. Love the old eagle buttons.

Re: March 6-8 Hunt

Great hunt! I'm not excited about snake season either :(

That's a real productive hunt Cornspike. Really like the carbine sling tip and the company letter B.

Glad you got in the hunt before the vipers awake. I was looking at some snake boots myself.

Dang fine hunt!!!

I must be too far west,I am waiting for it to "heat",up....we are about ready to grow fins!!!

Not a bad haul, not by any means. Looks like you had a good time out, for sure. I noticed the F.V.V & Co headstamp in a cartridge closeup. I was wondering if it had more than one strike in the rim from the firing pin. We have found that brand in our area that many times have multiple firing pin strikes, they would turn it after a misfire and try again until it fired or they gave up trying. I have one that has 7 strikes before it fired and another that has 6 strikes and they tossed it away unfired. Not a real comfort knowing your ammo reliabilty is lacking in the event of an attack by hostile persons. The cartridges were (here in western kansas) a .58 miller carbine and dated from 1865-1870 sites. What is the state and approximate date of your site?
