Marine pin? Misc finds from the past few hunts!!

I'm trying to find out more about this Marine piece. It's iron and was an eyeball find at a very old site in Colorado. I sure like the Ohio police button and the homemade pencil. I was out in this meadow and a bear came to check me out I was pretty far from the car and he was twice as far the other direction, but good thing I looked up when I did. I don't know how long he was watching me. He walked up and down the bank a few times looking at me. I went back to the car and got my phone to get a video. He's farther away than it looks. After a bit he walked down the valley, and I went back to detecting with a keen lookout

Thanks, I can almost read the inscription inside. I wish it were silver but Its plated.

Even if it's not silver, the hand engraved part of it is still awesome. You just dont see them type of skills much anymore.

Thanks Lenrac, when your finding old stuff it's hard to stop. My shovel would probably be good defense but I don't ever want to find out. Last month my brother who lives out in the woods was pecking at some automotive part by his shed. He happened to look up as a mountain lion was advancing on him. He was able to spook it away. He is pretty shaken up about going outside now. He is going to get one of those masks with a face for the back of his head

Someone just identified the Marine piece as a tin chewing tobacco tag. I never knew of such a thing. A whole new item to search and collect. I love it!!!

Those things are almost scarier, I walked out my back door to find three of them hissing at me one night. They torture my dogs all the time One night I'm sitting in my hot tub and I see a curious fox with a piece of something in its mouth. I kinda shrunk down so it wouldn't see me. All of a sudden it jumped up on the edge of the hot tub slipped, saw me and got scared and almost fell in. It dropped the nasty piece of meat in the tub. It would have torn me up it had fell in.

Like there, the Sierras are full of bears and cats and it's just part of being outdoors. I've seen cougars twice and half a dozen bears while detecting. It only really freaks me out when I'm in the river where I don't have my gun on me.

I was stalked by a cougar when I was younger. Pretty spooky feeling. Especially when they call your unlisted number at 1:00 am.😂

Mountain lions??!?!? That's a BIG ole NOPE!! 😄
