What are we looking at here? An old canal under the street? Pretty cool

only thing I'm sure is that Market Street, was Water Street in 1875



and the Mahanoy Creek ran through the Center of the street
and appears to be the block #20 facing East Towards Block #21 in the Distance,
where the Tall Building is.

in Tremont they did this also
and built a park on top.

at a spot where there used to be a Wishing Well.

The floods Burst through the top a few years ago

We have something like that up here in Erie.. Millcreek flood of 1915. Now Millcreek runs for miles under the city out to the lake.
