I use to search a lot of pennies and got to thinking I was searching the same rolls some times. (early to mid 70's I use to get 5 or 6 a roll.) I would have to reroll them and put them in the bank.

So I started putting a red strip along the edge of the rolls so if I got one with the stripe I would not wasted my time searching it again.

has anyone here ever thought about doing this? lately I have started searching again. 2 40%'s out of $260. (half's, my eyes are getting to bad to search penny rolls) It would be nice if we all did so if we get a roll with a red stripe on the side we could skip over it knowing it had already been searched.

I do not mark the paper wrapper, that could be removed and re-wrapped at Brinks.

I built a small "V" shaped cradle that will hold and line up one roll of coins. I toss the halves in that and mark the side of all the coins with one stripe of blue perminant marker. Got over $7000 out there with my mark on it. None have come back yet to haunt me. ;D When they do start returning I will find a new bank with a different coin source.
