Thanks for posting this Jeff, incredible effort by NASA to explore Mars! Hope all goes well with the landing and the mission!

Very much looking forward to this event...and the data they gather
over the life of the rover.

3 spacecrafts from China, USA and UAE are hurtling towards Mars.

UAE’s orbiter will reach Mars on February 9th.{LAST Tuesday]

24 hours later,February 10th.{LAST Tuesday] Chinese Tianwen-1 Probe.
China’s probe will remain in orbit until May. Then the rover will separate to land on Mars.

Thursday, February 18th. NASA’s Perseverance rover will arrive on the scene.

Same here..with my odd hours I should have been sacked
out 4 hrs. before the landing. Nope...wasn't gonna miss it,
but like you I only made it to the landing and first pic.

Seen a few other images since, and they are spectacular.

mars cam live

ok Something don't add up

Was Watching this Live Feed earlier. Looked Like Straight Video as the Camera Circled Perseverance.
All of a Sudden Something Moved on the ground, May have been Wind blown, May Have been something really Strange.

I Hit reverse and tried to see if it Was my Imagination, But of Course you Can't reverse Live.
But Ever since They seem to be Posting oversized Still Clips Instead :(

Makes me wonder, are they Really in the Desert ? I also noticed some times it looks like Blue water in the Back-round, Eyes gone Buggy :laughing7: may have reverted back to Straight Video

I watched the landing live also....Wonder why they spend zillions on a craft and equipped it with a 1950s black & white cam ?:icon_scratch:???

It has both color and black and white cameras.

"The reason that they’re black and white, or gray scale as we call it, is because that’s all the rover really needs in order to detect rocks and other obstacles.Other cameras are color, such as the Mastcam imager, and the reason that they’re color is because the scientists use the color information to learn about the soil and the rocks.
The rover has 2 different types of cameras. There are 1-megapixel black and white imagers for the engineering cameras and 2-megapixel color imagers for the science cameras."

Yea I was a Bit Upset on the Early Moon landing too.
I Know when it Happened I was 14 and I'm not sure if we Had a B&W TV back then or not.
But I Thought the same B&W For the Public ?

One of the reasons because I Have a Conspiracy riddled Mind.
Especially when the Gov'ment is Involved;
I Still Think at least the 1st moon Landing was Faked.

On Mars, I seem to remember everything Sent Towards Mars, appeared to be Destroyed when it Got close to Mars.
Like someone was taking the Ships Out.
I Figured Perhaps there was no Ships.
Just Hungry Hungry Pockets & To explain No Pics, They invented "unknown Failure at the Last Moment" :tongue3:
