I got these from a friend today, and for the life of me, I don't know what to make of either of em'. The martingale looks exactly like the lead filled Civil War ones found at confederate camps. It appears to have a tin back, but it is too heavy to be tin. Is there lead underneath the tin? Is it iron? It weighs as much as an eagle breastplate. It is civilian, found 30 miles south of Lake Erie, but it might have been brought home on a soldiers horse. I dunno. I'm smarter about bullets than horse equipment.

Next, we have a weird horseshoe. In all my years of finding horseshoes, I've never seen anything like this one. This was found on the banks of the Tennessee river, near Shiloh. Why is it so thin? It has been electrostalisized, and preserved already. (Yeah, I have no clue how to spell that)
