Massive Roman/Saxon Site - Day 3...

The weather is still nice, no need for gloves or coats. Today we gridded for 4 hours 15 minutes through some of the best area for Roman finds. The pottery was everywhere & even more was dug up from the deep by a new drainage pipe (filled in trench) which ran right in the middle of the site. Some of the pottery had the most amazing shine/glaze still left on it. I got lots of pieces I've never seen before, thanks to that trench! (it had a few coins up as well)

Roman Cattle Bone is perfect nick - I must have ignored about 20 animal teeth!

Saxon Wrist Clasp (piece)
2 Roman Bracelet Bits
Nice Tudor Button
Roman Fibula
Lead-alloy/pewter Medieval? Buckle - a first
Roman Tweezers - complete but bent

No silver yet, the bottom left was close; a fragment of a silver plated Ant.

Just a medium/middle status farmstead. Villa would imply something more grand than this rural house.

Dad checked the records & for this site 31 Roman Coins is our best 1 day total.

The Deus is now weeding out all the small stuff. An amazing site for us would be 1000+ coins (& more silver), that site was a small villiage.
