match safe near civil war site -copper 3" flat screw top tube w/ round bottom

any match safe experts out there ? the item appeears to be copper base with brass or gilt covering at one time (its mostly wore off now )--the bottom is rounded like a modern cigar tube is -- the body is about 3 inches long - the top of it is flat and is of a screw top type design--you can hear the matches "rattle around" inside if you shake it a bit . the threading is seized up and it can not be open without damaging it at this time.
