Was tickled to spot this potsherd near La Ventana in the SLV. Thing is, generally when I find pottery, it's the sign of a long term camp and absolutely nothing else in this area. Except the quartz piece. I had to look that over a long time. That type material doesn't really occur naturally in that area; there are a few crystal forms. On the lower end, it almost looks like some flaking, but it's worn, maybe from use or because it's very, very old? Could be used as a drill or awl I guess, but finally decided it was just a cool rock. Maybe this was a site that people have scavenged over the years for artifacts and they missed these.
