Know it's kinda lame but it's the only interesting thing a have found lately. It was close to where I found a large brass nail. The black part looks like glass. The broken parts have edges that are clear/ translucent and it's heavy like glass. But there are three nipples on it that must have been manufactured, they are tiny probably to he the thing in place. It sounded off a broken high tone in the Excalibur. It's not magnetic.

Any thoughts. Found in New Jersey.

No thoughts on the button but a brass spike in the area is a good sign! It does get slow for a while then it all changes with one signal! Get that coil wet a little and the odds are a little more in your favor. Saw your pic on a post, glad to see that excal running. Good luck

That's crazy I have to dig out the one I found I found it with artifacts from the very early 1800's along with pewter military buttons... And some bronze spikes that seemed like chest nails

Here's half of one glass peice I have a whole one somewhere.. If you hold this one in front of a light it's actually maroon in color

I really love to put this little mystery together I've been keeping this little thing around for so long because I hate not coming up with an answer..( wish I could find the whole one at the moment)... It's interesting to see that brass around it because I found a small piece close by that resembles that somewhat I also found a lot of old black glass bottles I was sort of thinking this might have been an old bottle top seal.. Put on top of a cork maybe I don't know I'm just guessing

Yeh my piece is like root beer color. That's gotta be the same thing. Flip your piece over does it have a tiny little nipple on it?
