✅ SOLVED Maybe from 1870

[Older The Better]

I was working my site with things that cluster around 1870 including civil war buttons and coins from 1860’s and maybe 70’s on the ones with erased dates… I was going slow looking more for ceramics that may be identifiable and swinging the detector in case and this rang up a pretty high tone. I’d say brass like, it has internal threads but also appears to have Ben pinned there’s a tab or a bit of metal and looks like some discoloration where it was punched through… not sure if it’s 1870’s or if it’s fallen off of later farming equipment because it’s been a farm field for atleast 120 years.. maybe not much to go on but any help is appreciated… it is fairly heavy and sturdy not like any sheet metal

If I had guess, I’d say it’s an ox knob. The farmers would thread those down on their horns, then lop off the tip. I suppose someone learned their lesson, and invented that.

I’d say you’re right! Well that’s cool kind of fits the timeframe of the area as far as settlers and age. Thanks I didn’t expect much out of asking… had some fun with ai, making a picture based on some of the evidence and general history of the area. A potential snapshot of my site
