Hello all,

After I lost all my sluicing equipment in an accident it's been about four months since I've gone out looking for gold. I'm thinking i'd like to give using a metal detector a shot when it comes to looking for gold.

I've never used one in my life, so i'm turning to the fine people of treasurenet to point me in a decent direction.

My budget can't go over 500 bucks and ideally i'd like something as small as possible as I'll most likely try to transport it on my motorcycle if I can.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thank you!

With your budget, you'll most likely have to get a used machine. Take a look at these:

Tesoro Lobo Super Traq

Whites GMT

Fisher Goldbug

Minelab 705

Teknetics G2

Take a look at treasure classifieds. There is a whites mxt for 430 shipped.

Ive seen some great used ones middle to even high end on feebay that are in ur budget good luck, it wont take Long for you get hooked on metal detecting for sure

A used Gold Bug would be the one I would choose.
