QUOTE: "Me and my glory hole"

Uh, not the best of phrases. :o

I wasn't sure I wanted to see you re GLORY HOLE, but it is a good post and some great finds...

I didn't think of how my title sounded but that is what I call that spot. I think I read a gold prospecting story and that phrase was used. I am headed back there on Sept 17 and give it a try in the fall. I usually stay gone at least 40 days so I will post my finds when I get back.

Nice collection of finds there.

What part of Missouri you in? I lived in Columbia for about 20 years.

I live in Brookfield- about 85 miles from Columbia. Brookfield is on 36 hwy half way between Hannibal and StJoe.

nice finds and nice system, I have heard of the hooka, but never knew what it was. I read up on it a little, and it might be something I could use. Are you doing this in a lake? How deep and how clear is it. I'm use to diving in clear springs.

I am diving in salt water in the Med. This unit has 70 feet hoses but I usually don't go past 20 feet. WE dive mostly under platforms and in areas thay have a rock bottom and you can't use a scoop to recover.

yeah... this glory hole thing can get you in trouble nowdays... might be time for a name change! 8)

omg nice finds but glory hole ? sounds a little odd dont you think

The only glory hole I knew of was the opening in the glass furnace door, where the glassblower "gathers" the glass at the beginning of a project.

There's also this one: http://www.trophybassonly.com/id56.htm (A sort of overflow thing for a man made pond)

Apparently I've led a sheltered life.

I think the term "glory hole" in respect to gold prospecting was used to describe a large deposit of gold nuggets in a small area in a stream bed (wet or dry)
