I don't see anything related to butchering, I'm thinking harvesting related. Hay, Straw, Tobacco the blade looks familiar, have to do some looking...

The buckle looking item is a link from a chain, from some type of farm equipment? HH

To me it looks like it is part of some sort of farm machinary. The "buckle" looks like a link to chain as stated by Broken knee and the longer skinnier one looks like a prong off a machine for hay. The blade could be off an older plow.

found these iron objects buried in the cellar of the 1803 mansion on the plantation. the large piece on the right is very sharp. these were found near a very large salt box,for salting meat.i think the large piece is meat cleaver, anybody know?
Can you post a photo of the 'base' of the large object? It might help to determine how or what it was mounted to....

I have seen your large ''sharp'' item on the right, but do not remember what it is called. The handle part of the ''blade'' would slide down into a table mounted sleeve with the cutting side facing up. And whatever was needed to be sliced, was dropped onto the blade and cut. Not sure if it was used for meat, bread dough, or veggies.

Maybe it was to break up the salt? Makes sense.

In looking further I think the large piece may be a A coulter or colter is a vertically-mounted component of many plows that cuts an edge about 7 inches (18 cm) deep ahead of a ploughshare Its most effective depth is determined by soil conditions.HH the one in the pic I posted is not the same but I hope you get the idea?
