Found this today at an old homesite. It says Mechanics Brace and has an arm & hammer symbol on it. Bottom has been broken off. Any ideas? 20201031_172333.webp

Wow, when I had braces they were tiny. Mechanics must have HUGE teeth!

Mechanics suspenders were heavier duty and crisscrossed in the back, what you have is probably the emblem off the criscross.

I think you are exactly right. Before it broke the emblem was part of a y connection. Thanks for the ID help!

In the 19th century suspenders were used to hold up your stockings and braces to hold up your trousers.

Somewhere along the way we started referring to 'braces' as 'suspenders'.
