I found the medal in St. Paul, MN. Several pieces found around it date to early 1900's.

It appears to be an "A"(?), but if you look closely below the horizontal line of the letter, there are marks where other parts of the symbol were located before coming off. There is a wing coming off the upper right of the symbol/letter.

Thank you!!

Maybe AAA Automobile Club fob. Just a guess

I'm guessing it's an athletic medal. Note the shape of this one. I saw other early 20th C athlete medals with similar shape.

Below the large "A" there appears to be an oh or zero. To the left of it might be another "A" or "H". The wing might represent track or flying A.

On the reverse side (photo 2) near the center there appears to be a skewed diamond shape. Just below appears to be some letters written upside down. I'm on a tablet tonight so cant readily make sense of it but will try tomorrow if no one beats me to it. If it turns out to be the manufacturer that might help ID what is on front.

It may just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but I think I can see a makers mark here? :icon_scratch:

Nice find Capone,
Dave

Any chance that "0" is a "C"? Could be AC for Athletic Club. The St. Paul AC logo was a winged shoe. Their hockey team in the early 20th C was the St. Paul AC's.

Maybe a bit of a stretch but that's all I've got... :dontknow:

All, please see attached. Looking closer this morning, there may be a "T2" at 1030, a "2" at 2 and an upside down "2" directly below that. I think DCMatt is on the right track. It would be nice to compare the reverse of the find with that of the picture DCMatt posted.

DCMatt, yes there is a chance that "0" is a "C". I outlined what appeared to be raised areas (showing a bit more wear). But, I could be wrong. Capone, if the team still exists, consider sending the picture to them to see if they can ID. If the team no longer exists, chances are some local hockey buff or historical society still has a medal like that in their collection.

The 1930 Ice club medal maker was Dieges & Clust.

There is a company called Jostens out of Minneapolis that was founded in the late 1800s. They supply class rings and other school and athletic memorabilia. What do you think?

Edit: i dont know why the first two came in sideways. I did starighten them out before posting.

I can't make out the mark in the last 2 photos. I'd look at it under strong magnification to see if you can determine what it is. Also consider contacting Jostens to see if they once had a logo and/or a medal design like that.
