Well after the horendous winter we have had I finally got onto a decent field, although this field has been done before we knew there was a good chance of a saxon coin, or artifacts. I recently upgraded my Xp goldmaxx power for the Deus, so this was it's first outing8-)

This field had been seeded before Christmas, but when we got there it had been ploughed back in...and very rough, an ankle breaker as we call them, anyway we give it a go. First find, and a first for me...a Roman Votive Couldron, first I have even seen outside a book or web page, and amazingly another first, and Silver...Medieval Hawking Bell, I have always wanted to find one of these, I broke the loop of in my pocket :BangHead: but I think I will have this restored by a jeweler. The site contains a lot of tiny lead pieces, and was quite hard trying to get through them, one piece came out which was flat on the bottom, and had an irregular shape on the top, which was oxidised over, I scraped this back and revealed what looks like a Saxon/Viking embeded gaming piece :dontknow: The embeded piece looks like Gold...but not sure, I'm waiting on a ID on this, so will keep you informed....Have a Look :icon_thumleft:

All i can say is "Stunning"! I need a site like that and an XP upgrade too! This votive Cauldron is fantastic, but the bell is a Banner find on rarity too! Hopfully you get it restored well!
I don't talk with you guys any more about hammereds. If i get one or two medieval silvers a year here i call it a good year.... Big Congrats SS!

Thanks Mate....the hawking bell is quite a find, and I'm very pleased you just don't see them that often. The hammereds have come in the last month, two came on the same day from a field that produced 5 hammered in 2 hours before the snow forced us off.

Fantastic recoveries, SS,

They are so beyond my colonial frame of reference, all I can say is, "Thanks for showing us!"

That is a wonderful unique hawking find .

Possibly the first first silver hand crafted hawk bell ever posted here . Even the hammered beauties are somewhat being overshadowed by the bell .

Congrats on your Great Medieval Finds

My vote is definitely in for that hawk bell! :icon_thumright:

Hawk yeah.cool finds for sure.way to go

Very nice finds. I'm so jealous! :-) You have the NorthEast in the U.S. with all the Colonial history, then the gold mine that is Europe with it's thousands of years of great history, and I live in Alabama where it seems nothing much happened and people were too poor to loose even their spare change. lol J/K Your finds are great!

Now that is cool!!!!Well played Mate :icon_thumright:

Wow. Amazing finds. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on a great hunt and a fantastic bell, wow very nice:icon_thumleft:

WTG on the bell it's a real awesome find, does this one have to be reported?
The Roman Votive Cauldron is very cool, it's different than the one I got this year as yours has legs.

Yes if I go by the book it has to be reported, but I'm going to use common sence and say that it will just clog up the Treasure act system, after all it's not King Harolds Sword :laughing7: and I know this will proberbly raise a few eye brows...but tuff :unhappysmiley:

outstanding finds!

Outstanding finds. Always great w a new MD.
The coins are.....an afterthought?
Banner on the Bell.

Very cool. Funny enough the only Votive Couldron we had (& I mean Dad here), had 2 legs instead of three!

The rest is a great day!

I'm sure I've never seen a Medieval Silver Hawking Bell ! That is cool ! My question is - how did you ID. it as that ?
Your hammered silvers are not exactly "chopped liver" either !
